Stories Behind The Lens: The Jonas Brothers

The year is 2006. I’m a teen living in Mountain House, CA. In my upstairs bedroom, the walls are covered in Jonas Brothers posters from Tiger Beat, Popstar, and other teen magazines. The Hello Kitty stereo sitting on the wood desk blasts “Underdog.” I write stories and dreams in a spiral notebook of one day being more than what I was being offered. I write deep thoughts and wishes of being the cool girl; the girl that does not get bullied; the girl that’s pretty; the girl that’s worth all the grandeur things that the universe has to offer.

The year is 2019. I’m an adult with a heart and soul of a child who believes in an endless imagination. I’m gathering prosumer cameras, tripods, lights, and other video equipment before hauling them to the second floor of the Entercom LA building on Miracle Mile. The Jonas Brothers would be arriving in about 2 hours and it was on me to set up a studio, film, and edit their interview. A few months later, I find myself at The Hollywood Bowl; DSLR camera in hand, a smile on my face, and the universe on my side, for giving me such a grandeur thing to forever remember.

With 5 years under my belt working professionally in Los Angeles radio, I've been blessed and extremely lucky to experience such remarkable opportunities. Working with The Jonas Brothers, was definitely a career HIGHLIGHT and something that was over 10 years in the making! I've been a huge fan of the JoBros since their early days. 2006 was a hard year as a high school teen, who was bullied and teased for the dumbest things, but for a girl who was never deemed "the smart one," or "the pretty one," or "the cool one," I felt like I never deserved all the good things the universe could offer. With the help of the Jonas Brothers however, I was able to "have faith, restart."

Let's cut to 2019. I'm an adult with a child's wild heart and I'm a Video Content Producer for 8 different radio stations in L.A. As a teen I didn't know about the power of manifestation; but hidden in old journals are endless scripting sessions where I'd dream up a life where the bullied fangirl would see life as beautiful blessing, and get the moment she deserved.
