TASTE TEST: KFC Beyond Fried Chicken!
On Monday July 20th, 2020 the KFC and Beyond Meat collaboration hit Southern California stores. After it’s successful run in both the UK and on the U.S. East Coast, KFC brought the plant-based nuggets to SoCal. While the nuggets are made from plant-based materials, the meal itself isn’t exactly vegan as it is fried in the same oil as the actual KFC chicken.
After taste testing the KFC Beyond Chicken Nuggets, I can say that the taste is very nostalgic. As someone who has been eating a plant-based diet for the last 5 years, I can still remember the signature KFC taste. The breading of these nuggets are spot-on to the original and even the “meaty” texture resembles actual chicken. Would I recommend these nuggets? Absolutely.
However, I do want to note that while these meat alternatives are delicious, they are still highly processed and made in a lab. I would not recommend eating these every day (or even every week for that matter). That being said, I will be eating these again but after indulging on a combo meal to myself, I’ll wait several weeks before indulging once more — assuming that there is still inventory in the coming months.
